Birthplace of Eimutis Valentinas Sventickas
Eimutis Valentinas Sventickas. Lithuanian literary critic and essayist. Born in Lazdijai district, Delnica. In the autumn of 1951, he was exiled to Siberia with his parents. In 1957 he returned to Lithuania and studied at Šeštokiai secondary school. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Vilnius University, where he studied the Lithuanian language and literature. Since 1978 he has been a member of the Lithuanian Writers' Union.
After publishing his first book - a collection of literary criticism articles "Eilėraščio kelias" (The Path of the Poem) in 1978, Eimutis Valentinas Sventickas has written and published more than twenty books and monographs of contemporary Lithuanian literature criticism, essays and essays. Among them is his popular autobiographical book "Guriniai", which reflects his native land and the people he has met along the way.
In 2015, Valentinas Sventickas was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Lazdijai District.
